I love Fall. It is by far my favourite season. The leaves changing colours, the comfy sweaters, everything about it is great. So here is a list of some of my favourite things for Fall. 1. Soft Shell Jacket I have a black, soft shell jacket from Columbia and I love it. I honestly get excited to wear it. It's so comfy, and keeps me warm. I highly recommend getting one. 2. Blanket Scarf This year, I finally bought a blanket scarf. These a great because they look cute, but you can also wrap yourself up in it when it's cold. 3. Comfortable Boots I had a pair of combat boots that I wore pretty much everyday for 3 years. I finally wore them out and was on a desperate search for a new pair of boots I could throw on everyday. I finally found a pair of slip-on Chelsea boots from Steve Madden. It's easy to find cute boots, but you'll feel so much better if you find a pair that you can actually wear all day. 4. Fall Teas I can't wait for when the fall teas finally come out. My favourite is Pumpkin Chai from David's Tea. It's the perfect thing to start a beautiful fall day. 5. A Good Book There's something about curling up with a good book on a brisk fall day. Pair it with your blanket scarf and your tea, and you have a perfect day. I'm currently reading "One of Us Is Lying" by Karen N. McManus. What are your favourite things for fall? Let me know in the comments down below!

Tuesday, October 31st Today was an exciting day because I am done all my midterms and major assignments (for now), so I finally have my life back. 8:30AM- Wake up, get ready Check out my morning routine post: morning-routine.html 10:00AM-11:30AM- Accounting Class 11:30AM-12:30PM- Getting organized I had a crazy week last week, so today I just sat down and took a look at what I have upcoming, and what I need to do this week before I leave for break. 12:30PM- Lunch 1:00PM- Netflix/ Nap I am terrible about watching Netflix or taking a nap in the middle of the day. Even when I tell myself I'm going to be productive, I always end up needing down time. *I'm currently watching Scandal 2:30PM-4:00PM- Business Tutorial 4:00PM-5:30PM- Cleaning/ Homework I have been putting off cleaning because I had midterms, but now I really, really needed to clean. I live in a suite-style room, which means I have to clean my bathroom. I also just did a few quick things for one of my classes. 5:30PM- Supper 6:00PM-7:00PM - More Netflix 7:00PM- 9:00PM- Homework I don't really have anything left to do before the break, so I started on an assignment I just got. I also set up my wall calendar and planner for November! 9:00PM-10:30 - Relax 10:30- Get ready for bed 11:00- Lights Out I hope everyone had a great day too!
~Ana Ever since Netflix took over, I've watched way more series than I'd like to admit. But every time I finish one series, I'm ready to start another one. Here are 15 shows that you need to watch if you haven't already!
Honourable Mentions:
Start popping your popcorn, put your comfy clothes on, and settle in for a serious binge-watching session. Is this list missing something? Let me know in the comments below.
~Ana I'm going to be honest, when I'm bored, I immediately turn to Netflix. It's so easy just to throw on an episode of Gilmore Girls, but then you get sucked in and end up watching Netflix for hours. So here's a list of things you can do when you're bored. Watch a movie. I know this is very similar to binge-watching on Netflix. But, I find that if you have a lot of time, it's better to just commit to a movie. Especially if it's before bed, and you don't have anything else to do. Workout Okay, so I have to be really really bored in order to workout. I mean, I have to have literally nothing else to do. But, I really should, and it's not that hard to find a quick workout video on YouTube and do it in your dorm room. Or you can find a fitness class to go to. Clean your room. Some people hate cleaning their room. I'm the type of person who can't function if my room is messy. Even something as simple as making your bed, or putting away your books will make a big difference. This way, you're also doing something productive. Read a book. In university it can be hard to make time to read a book for fun. I usually get so caught up in reading my textbooks that I forget how much I love to just curl up with a book. Go get a book, sit down, and start reading it. You'll feel so much better. Take a shower or bath. I actually look forward to taking a shower. It's a nice break from studying, or time to relax before bed. If you like baths, go get a bath bomb and take time to enjoy it. Go get a coffee. Maybe you just need a change of scenery. Go get a Tim's, or take a walk to a coffee shop. (I don't even drink coffee and I do this). Draw, paint, etc. When I was little and would say "I'm borreeedd", my mom would always say "Why don't you draw? Or paint?" I'm not very artistic, but lately I've turned to bullet journalling. Even if you're not very artsy, it's good to have some kind of creative outlet. What do you do when you're bored? Let me know in the comments down below!
~Ana I like to think I'm a morning person. But realistically, I'm not. I don't sleep in until 11, but I also have trouble getting out of bed. Luckily, I don't have morning classes, so I can get up and ready whenever I want. But, I am making it my mission to not waste my mornings, and get out of bed by 8:30am. Lately, this is how my mornings go. 8:00- Alarm Sometimes I wake up before my alarm and I'm really proud of myself. Sometimes I hit snooze several times. Bathroom Am I the only one who has to go to the bathroom as soon as I get up? Make Tea, Wash my Face & Brush my Teeth I love making tea in the morning. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I really can't function without caffeine, so tea has become my best friend. I usually wash my face and brush my teeth while my tea is steeping. Makeup (and watch Friends) So while I drink my tea, I put an episode of Friends on, and start my makeup. I'm the type of person who actually enjoys doing my makeup in the morning. It makes me feel like I'm starting my day off right. Hair This either means running a brush through it and throwing it up into a ponytail, or I actually take the extra few minutes to straighten it. Get Dressed The hardest part of getting dressed is checking the weather. I live in a place where it'll be 90% humidity one day, and then winter the next day. So I've learned to check every morning before I get dressed. Breakfast The last thing I do each morning is go down to the meal hall for breakfast. I usually text my friend and he meets me there. If anyone is wondering, I almost always have oatmeal and a muffin. So there you have it. That's my morning routine. What I do after this changes depending on the day or what I have to do. But for the most part, this is it.
~Ana With October just around the corner, it's time to set up my bullet journal for a new month! I started Bullet Journalling about a year ago, but I kind of fell behind over the summer. Now, with school back in full swing, I'm trying to get back into it. Take a look at how I set up my bullet journal for the month of October! *PS. Let me know if you want me to do a post on starting a bullet journal. Cover Page The first page I made was a cover page to start off the month. It's a nice way to get a little creative and try out some fun lettering. Obviously I had to do a pumpkin for October. Monthly Layout My monthly layout usually changes each month. Sometimes I go with a calendar style layout, and sometimes I use a list layout. For October I decided to use a calendar layout so I have space to write out assignments and midterms I have coming up, which I wrote in later. (Each day/block is 6x6 if anyone is wondering) Spending Log & Habit Tracker The last spread I set up for the month is a spending log and a habit tracker. The spending log is something new I'm trying. I noticed I've been spending a lot more now that I live within walking distance of a lot of cafe's and other stores. So I'm hoping that having to write out my purchases will make me more accountable. The habit tracker is something I use more during the school year so I have some structure. I track things like flossing, or if I studied that day. Let me know in the comments below if you want to see more bullet journal posts! Do you bullet journal? Are you looking to get started?
~Ana I know what you're thinking, "you rushed a sorority!?" If you had asked me a few months ago, I never would have considered rushing a sorority. I always imagined Elle Woods from Legally Blonde whenever someone said sorority. It wasn't until I found this specific sorority that I considered it. For those of you that don't know, Rush Week is essentially when you get to know the people in the sorority, and the Sisters can decide if you're a good fit. The sorority I decided to rush had 5 events; Info Night, Rollerblading, a Semi-Formal Mixer, Clay Cafe, and Board Game Cafe. As an extreme introvert that was a lot of socializing in a short period of time. However, I wasn't able to go to a few of the events because I had class, so I really only had to socialize 3 times. So why did I decide to join a sorority? Last year, I went to a university 16 hours away from home and I didn't know anyone. I was so overwhelmed that I didn't join any clubs, and I didn't meet many people. This year, going to a new school, I was determined to get more involved and build some friendships. One day I saw a post on Facebook for this sorority. What really drew me in is their three main focuses; individuality, leadership, and respect. What did I think of Rush Week? When I went to the first event, I was expecting it to be a very awkward, and uncomfortable experience. Luckily I was wrong. All of the Sisters were very welcoming and nice. Over the course of the 3 events I went to, I met some really sweet girls and actually started to form some good friendships. Side Note: Rollerskating is way harder than you would expect. Right now, I'm still a Rush and I'm waiting on a bid. Even if I don't get one, I'm really glad I pushed myself and I had this experience. As an introvert, I find it really hard to meet people, but this allowed me to socialize in situations that were a little closer to my comfort zone.
~Ana Last week, I started my second year of university. Except this year, I switched schools. This meant doing Orientation/ Frosh Week all over again. I am also living in a dorm room again this year. So here's what happened when an introvert went to a new school. I'm going to be honest, it's not very exciting. Move-In Day: On move-in day my family woke up early and drove the 4 hours to my new school. By the time I got there most people had already moved in and were out meeting people. Instead of rushing out to join in on the "fun", I opted to unpack my room a little more and get situated. Luckily, I have a few friends here from high school. So, once again, instead of going to "cheer-off" practice for my floor, I hung out with them. Which in my defence, was a social activity, just not with new people. Day 2: Day 2 was supposed to be filled with school spirit activities and ways to get to know new people. I took this time to go check out the school bookstore and walk around my new campus with my best friend. I did end up going out to lunch downtown, but once again, with people I've known for years. By the end of the day, people were laughing in the hallways and getting to know everyone around them. Day 3: Day 3 was Faculty Orientation day. This meant that for 2 hours, everyone in my faculty was in the same place and checking out a resource fair. Later that night, we had Induction, which is basically the opposite of graduation. Day 4- First Day of Classes: Am I the only one who is happy when classes start? I started the morning off with my Accounting class, which I'm actually pretty excited about. It's a smaller class (about 60 kids), so it wasn't too overwhelming. My day got a little stressful after this. It took me 25 minutes just to find my next class. But really, why do universities have classes in tiny hallways in basements? Day 5: So just when classes are starting up, I have a day off. This was my day when I don't have any classes schedule. My goal was to use this day to be productive, but since I don't have any school work yet, I spent pretty much the entire day watching Netflix in bed. My friends from high school did pound on my door and wake me up from my nap though. Day 6: This exciting day started off with a fire alarm. It was probably 6:45am when the alarm went off, and my whole residence had to evacuate out into the rain. (There was no fire, it was just the humidity) Luckily I didn't have class until 10am. I also found out that I got a position on my residence council this year, so I'm already getting involved in school life. Day 7: Friday. The end of my first week. On Friday's I don't have class until 4pm, so it was another pretty chill day. After supper though, I went to the harbour front with a friend and we got COWS (the best ice cream in Canada for those of you who don't know), and explored for a little while. As much as I enjoy back to school shopping, and getting back into a routine, I hate the first week of school. As an introvert, I find it really uncomfortable to be expected to meet new people and show your school spirit for days on end. Most of my time was filled by naps, and Facetiming my mom. I'm not the type of person who can just strike up a conversation with a stranger and become best friends. I think there are a lot of people who struggle with this too. You may not notice them because they're not as loud as everyone else, but they're around. Maybe it's you. Let me know how back to school makes you feel? If you have any advice for me that would be great too! ~Ana Am I the only one who loves reading but rarely gets around to it? Back in January, one of my goals for this year was to read more books for fun. When you're in university it can be hard to find the time to sit down and read a book just because you want to. So, I made it a priority, and I'm really glad I did. Here are some books that I loved recently.
I truly enjoyed every book on this list. The one thing they all have in common is they all focus on teenagers who are dealing with relatable issues. They address topics such as teen suicide, body image, and relationships in ways that feel natural. If you've read one of them and liked it, I guarantee you'll like the others. Let me know in the comments below what your favourite books are right now, or what you thought of any on this list! ~Ana |
