With October just around the corner, it's time to set up my bullet journal for a new month! I started Bullet Journalling about a year ago, but I kind of fell behind over the summer. Now, with school back in full swing, I'm trying to get back into it. Take a look at how I set up my bullet journal for the month of October! *PS. Let me know if you want me to do a post on starting a bullet journal. Cover Page The first page I made was a cover page to start off the month. It's a nice way to get a little creative and try out some fun lettering. Obviously I had to do a pumpkin for October. Monthly Layout My monthly layout usually changes each month. Sometimes I go with a calendar style layout, and sometimes I use a list layout. For October I decided to use a calendar layout so I have space to write out assignments and midterms I have coming up, which I wrote in later. (Each day/block is 6x6 if anyone is wondering) Spending Log & Habit Tracker The last spread I set up for the month is a spending log and a habit tracker. The spending log is something new I'm trying. I noticed I've been spending a lot more now that I live within walking distance of a lot of cafe's and other stores. So I'm hoping that having to write out my purchases will make me more accountable. The habit tracker is something I use more during the school year so I have some structure. I track things like flossing, or if I studied that day. Let me know in the comments below if you want to see more bullet journal posts! Do you bullet journal? Are you looking to get started?

I know what you're thinking, "you rushed a sorority!?" If you had asked me a few months ago, I never would have considered rushing a sorority. I always imagined Elle Woods from Legally Blonde whenever someone said sorority. It wasn't until I found this specific sorority that I considered it. For those of you that don't know, Rush Week is essentially when you get to know the people in the sorority, and the Sisters can decide if you're a good fit. The sorority I decided to rush had 5 events; Info Night, Rollerblading, a Semi-Formal Mixer, Clay Cafe, and Board Game Cafe. As an extreme introvert that was a lot of socializing in a short period of time. However, I wasn't able to go to a few of the events because I had class, so I really only had to socialize 3 times. So why did I decide to join a sorority? Last year, I went to a university 16 hours away from home and I didn't know anyone. I was so overwhelmed that I didn't join any clubs, and I didn't meet many people. This year, going to a new school, I was determined to get more involved and build some friendships. One day I saw a post on Facebook for this sorority. What really drew me in is their three main focuses; individuality, leadership, and respect. What did I think of Rush Week? When I went to the first event, I was expecting it to be a very awkward, and uncomfortable experience. Luckily I was wrong. All of the Sisters were very welcoming and nice. Over the course of the 3 events I went to, I met some really sweet girls and actually started to form some good friendships. Side Note: Rollerskating is way harder than you would expect. Right now, I'm still a Rush and I'm waiting on a bid. Even if I don't get one, I'm really glad I pushed myself and I had this experience. As an introvert, I find it really hard to meet people, but this allowed me to socialize in situations that were a little closer to my comfort zone.
~Ana Last week, I started my second year of university. Except this year, I switched schools. This meant doing Orientation/ Frosh Week all over again. I am also living in a dorm room again this year. So here's what happened when an introvert went to a new school. I'm going to be honest, it's not very exciting. Move-In Day: On move-in day my family woke up early and drove the 4 hours to my new school. By the time I got there most people had already moved in and were out meeting people. Instead of rushing out to join in on the "fun", I opted to unpack my room a little more and get situated. Luckily, I have a few friends here from high school. So, once again, instead of going to "cheer-off" practice for my floor, I hung out with them. Which in my defence, was a social activity, just not with new people. Day 2: Day 2 was supposed to be filled with school spirit activities and ways to get to know new people. I took this time to go check out the school bookstore and walk around my new campus with my best friend. I did end up going out to lunch downtown, but once again, with people I've known for years. By the end of the day, people were laughing in the hallways and getting to know everyone around them. Day 3: Day 3 was Faculty Orientation day. This meant that for 2 hours, everyone in my faculty was in the same place and checking out a resource fair. Later that night, we had Induction, which is basically the opposite of graduation. Day 4- First Day of Classes: Am I the only one who is happy when classes start? I started the morning off with my Accounting class, which I'm actually pretty excited about. It's a smaller class (about 60 kids), so it wasn't too overwhelming. My day got a little stressful after this. It took me 25 minutes just to find my next class. But really, why do universities have classes in tiny hallways in basements? Day 5: So just when classes are starting up, I have a day off. This was my day when I don't have any classes schedule. My goal was to use this day to be productive, but since I don't have any school work yet, I spent pretty much the entire day watching Netflix in bed. My friends from high school did pound on my door and wake me up from my nap though. Day 6: This exciting day started off with a fire alarm. It was probably 6:45am when the alarm went off, and my whole residence had to evacuate out into the rain. (There was no fire, it was just the humidity) Luckily I didn't have class until 10am. I also found out that I got a position on my residence council this year, so I'm already getting involved in school life. Day 7: Friday. The end of my first week. On Friday's I don't have class until 4pm, so it was another pretty chill day. After supper though, I went to the harbour front with a friend and we got COWS (the best ice cream in Canada for those of you who don't know), and explored for a little while. As much as I enjoy back to school shopping, and getting back into a routine, I hate the first week of school. As an introvert, I find it really uncomfortable to be expected to meet new people and show your school spirit for days on end. Most of my time was filled by naps, and Facetiming my mom. I'm not the type of person who can just strike up a conversation with a stranger and become best friends. I think there are a lot of people who struggle with this too. You may not notice them because they're not as loud as everyone else, but they're around. Maybe it's you. Let me know how back to school makes you feel? If you have any advice for me that would be great too! ~Ana |
